MADISON PARK PHARMACY AND WELLNESS CENTER

A major hallmark of a healthy community: a community pharmacy. Madison Park residents have been well cared for by a succession of independent pharmacies – housed in the Jacobs building – for nearly a century. When longtime tenant Pharmaca closed its doors in 2023, it was a big blow to the community. It goes without saying the entire neighborhood was thrilled to welcome its successor, Madison Park Pharmacy and Wellness Center, a few months later. Frosting on the cake: The two pharmacist owners Matt Binder and Jeff Harrell brought back most of the previous staff, including longtime retail manager Laura Sorenson.

As its name implies, Madison Park Pharmacy and Wellness Center offers a wide spectrum of products and services to keep our community healthy – and happy. “Our customers have let us know how much they appreciate our pharmacy always picking up the phone and getting their prescriptions ready promptly,” says Laura. “They also appreciate that someone is always willing to help with their questions.”

In addition to filling prescriptions, the pharmacy administers flu shots, Covid vaccinations, and B-12 and B Complex shots. Rounding out the wellness-focused team: naturopathic doctors and medical herbalists. These experts are now offering personal wellness consultations addressing common issues such as digestion and sleep support. The store also receives rave reviews for its comprehensive selection of supplements and natural skincare products. (Among the services offered: a one-hour makeup application lesson from one of the beauty experts.)

Madison Park Pharmacy and Wellness Center could well add “Gift Shop” to its long name. Laura has made it a point to source unique and fun items from PNW, Seattle, and even Madison Park vendors. She and her team love recounting the stories behind these brands.

Reflecting on the store’s recent second anniversary, Laura notes, “The community support for our little pharmacy has been incredible and we wouldn’t be able to be here if it wasn’t for the community.” No surprise: Our “little pharmacy” with its fully-stocked shelves is no longer our little secret. Says Laura, “It’s been great to see how many people from outside Madison Park are finding the trip to our neighborhood worth the time, instead of struggling with a chain pharmacy.”
