RED WAGON TOYS

They say Disneyland is “the happiest place on earth,” but if you want to get hyper-local, our money’s on Red Wagon Toys. The colorful storefront has been a happy presence in Madison Park since 2009. Like many of the independent businesses that make shopping here such a pleasure, the store is locally owned and operated.

Lifelong Seattle natives Lisa and John Graves acquired the business last year, after working for nearly two decades on the wholesale side of the toy industry. (The couple opened their first retail store, Guppies, on Tacoma’s Point Ruston waterfront in 2021.) The decision to take over Red Wagon was an “easy yes!” according to John. “We knew Red Wagon was loved by the community, but we had no idea how much,” he says. “The customers are amazing and have been so supportive. We love meeting young adults who grew up coming to the store and hearing their stories. We’re honored to be a part of this community and we’re having a blast!”

Indeed, John and Lisa have been enthusiastic supporters of Friends of Madison Park since day one. The Platinum sponsors have generously contributed to a number of events, including the Children’s Parade and Picnic, Easter Egg Hunt, and winter holiday festivities.

As customers can attest, Red Wagon carries an impressive selection of both latest-trend and traditional toys and games, including the coveted Jellycat plush toys and ever-popular LEGO brand, along with art supplies, books, dress-up clothes, and costumes. New grandparents John and Lisa have also expanded the store’s baby and new parent offerings and have successfully managed to attract “older kids” with kidult  items such as fidgets, stationery, puzzles, and LEGO18+ items. Even pets can find a toy and treat section just for them.

“Our team knows toys!”

Whether you’re shopping for an inquisitive toddler, a budding artist, or a future engineer, you can count on Red Wagon’s super-knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you find the perfect gift – and happily gift-wrap it, free of charge.
