Planting Day at the Bath House
Come help make the Bath House beautiful for summer!
We will need help 'mulching' and planting. So bring your shovels and spades and join us!
I have blocked time from 9 - 12, but I REALLY want to be done by 11, so come early.
We will also need help watering the gardens this season in order to ensure they remain healthy. I will reach out with a different mail and watering schedule.

Japanese Garden Youth Photography Workshop #2
About:
In partnership with Youth in Focus, the Seattle Japanese Garden is pleased to host their 5th annual youth photography workshops in the Garden. Student photographers from grades 8 through 12, are invited to come and learn about the Japanese stroll garden, tea ceremony and how to create inspiring images for our community.
With a professional photography instructor from Youth in Focus, you will expand your knowledge of operating DSLR cameras, photo composition and storytelling through taking photographs in the Garden.
At the end of the workshop, you will submit one picture to be printed and framed. Your framed print will be showcased in the Tateuchi Community Room at the Seattle Japanese Garden for the months of May and June.
Qualification to attend:
You are a student from Grade 8 through Grade 12
You have a love of and are interested in photography
You want to learn about Japanese garden and culture
The workshop includes:
Admission to the Garden
Tea ceremony demonstration by a Seattle based tea practitioner
Guided tour by our volunteer guide
A camera will be provided for use by the Youth in Focus
The link to download your digital images
One framed print will be created after the workshop for a summer exhibition at our community room in the garden
Tuition:
The tuition is a $20 suggested donation. We appreciate you paying what you can.

Arboretum April Plant Sale
Add new life and beauty to your home by buying trees, shrubs, and perennials at the Arborteum’s volunteer-run Cloney-Harris Nursery and Pat Calvert Greenhouse, located next to the Graham Visitors Center.
The nursery will re-open for the season (April through October), and the greenhouse will be back operating at full capacity. Volunteers will be on-site to help you with plant selections and share more about these volunteer run plant programs.

Seattle Independent Bookstore Day & Passport Challenge
Seattle Independent Bookstore Day is the local home of the national Independent Bookstore Day, a one-day celebration on the last Saturday of April, hosted by independent booksellers for our readers and customers.

The 2026 Independent Bookstore Day takes place on April 25. This year, the participating Seattle-area booksellers are offering the Bookstore Day Passport Challenge, with ten days to complete the challenge. Book fanatics who complete the challenge will receive a Bookstore Day Champion Stamp Card, good for a one-time 25% discount at each participating store and valid until April 23, 2027.
We are also offering an intermediate reward: those who don’t complete the full challenge but get their passport stamped at at least five participating stores during the ten-day period will receive a single 25%-off coupon, good at any of the participating stores.

Prospect Preserve Clean Up Day
