We are so fortunate in Madison Park to have specialty local shops and area-owned stores and eateries. As we morph into summer months and the weather entices us outdoors, please don’t forget to stop by to view the new art at domicile gallery and chat with Marissa and Hannah, relax after work with a glass of wine at Parlour Wines, find your new favorite book at Madison Books, meet the new owner of Cookin’ Resa Miller and the always knowledgeable Jann, drop off your package at Park Postal…the list of wonderful owners and staff goes on and on. These businesses depend on our community to thrive and grow. So next time, bypass the quick online fix and get to know your local shop owners. You will be so happy you did! Domicile Artist Reception is May 16th from 6-7 with artist Michael Weinstein. Look for the Madison Park Sidewalk Sale, July 9-12.

THE 14 GARDENS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN AND YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED! FROM A “LABOR OF LOVE” GARDEN, MATURING OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS- TO A PERFECTLY DESIGNED COTTAGE, REMINDING US OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF A SMALL JEWEL SPACE- TO A NEW ORLEANS STYLE COURTYARD AND DINING SHED- TO THE GATHERING PLACE FOR A LARGE FAMILY, THE CREATIVITY OF EACH GARDEN TEACHES US WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REFLECT THE PERSONALITIES AND NEEDS OF EACH OWNER. IN CASE YOU MISSED OUR APRIL NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING

You can view the meeting HERE on our youtube channel. Highlights were info about the return of the Farmer’s Market, meeting reps from PCC which will open next Fall, discussions about our frequent beach closure from Seattle Public Utilities Nathan Hart, Emergency HUB workshop and much much more.

On the beach closures, SPU, Parks and Rec and King County Public Health are working with us to find solutions to control lake water bacteria at our swimming beach. Foremost, please do not feed the ducks and geese, dogs are welcome at the beach (in fact encouraged by SPU since geese do not like the dogs) but please pick up waste; Parks inspected the side sewer line for the Bathhouse (all fine). SPU will be inspecting the overwater structures for any leaks, same with businesses and the two drainage areas bordering the beach. Updates will be provided as we get them.

The schedule for One Seattle Plan meetings at City Council is posted on their website HERE and we encourage neighbors to submit emails and attend the meetings to voice your views of the plan.

THANKS SO MUCH TO OUR PROSPECT PRESERVE WORK PARTY. JOIN US FOR OUR NEXT WORK PARTY ON JULY 18TH!
