CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON INTERIM LEGISLATION PRIOR TO ADOPTION OF ONE SEATTLE PLAN.

May 27th Voting- the City Council will adopt the state’s legislation HB1110 requiring all lots in the city to allow 4 units per lot, or 6 units per lot if 2 are designated affordable housing. This does NOT require a developer to eliminate single family homes but allows that possibility. HB 1110 does not designate heights, setbacks, boundaries of Neighborhood Centers or zoning designations within those boundaries.

Changes to HB1110- The Mayor’s Office and the Office of Planning and Community Development has also submitted CB120969 to be adopted at this same time- allowing reduction of setbacks from 20’ to 10’, lot coverage increased from 35% to 50% and height restrictions to raise 2’ from the present allowable height. These changes are not required by HB1110 but can be adopted by the City Council as well.

Be Informed and Comment- These are complicated proposals with a time-sensitive need for comments. Friends of Madison Park wants to be sure our community is aware of and as informed as possible about this pending legislation. Please read the proposed legislation here and send your comments pro-con-or neutral ASAP to our City Council representative. Joy Hollingsworth at Joy.Hollingsworth@seattle.gov.

BATHHOUSE RENOVATION AND BEACH RESTORATION MEETING

At our May 6th Neighborhood Meeting, we had a full house and a healthy exchange of ideas of what might be possible for updates to our Bathhouse and Beach. Signal Architecture+Research and Anchor QEA Landscape Architecture presented Idea Boards and Information about Possibilities and Constraints. The Idea Boards are HERE. Neighbors added post-its and comments of more ideas.

Our next meeting with the architects had been planned for our Neighborhood Meeting on June 3rd but has been postponed a few weeks in order to allow time for the next step of some conceptual ideas. Date TBA shortly.
