THE ATTIC
Madison Park’s version of “Cheers,” The Attic has been a popular neighborhood gathering spot for nearly six decades, hence its once-upon-a-time slogan:Your grandparents drank here so why not you? Its location at the bottom of East Madison has a long and colorful history dating back to 1907. The original structure housed a bowling alley and then a shooting gallery before transitioning to a bar in 1937. In 1967, Attic Alehouse and Eatery – in a brand-new building – officially debuted.
The Attic’s cozy interior with its wooden rafters, old-school booths, flags and pennants, sports memorabilia, and multiple television screens has been a second home for sports fans on game days over the years. But its menu and vibe have evolved far beyond beers, burgers, and high fives. Fried Chicken Fridays and Prime Rib Sundays are now popular weekly events – as is The Attic’s Weekend Brunch. (Think mimosas and everything from cinnamon roll pancakes and eggs benedict to Monte Cristo sandwiches and avocado toast.) Incidentally, brunch is “all ages.” Kids are welcome to join their parents 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Fun & Games
When not cheering on their favorite teams, Attic fans show off their competitive spirit each week with Jeopardy! Bar League Tuesdays – a fast-paced, team-style trivia competition. Another huge hit with Madison Parkers: Karaoke Thursdays, hosted by Rommel Landon.
And what’s an iconic pub without merch for sale? Yes, you can demonstrate your community spirit with an Attic t-shirt, hoodie, or ball cap.
